The “Roadmap for the Transformation of Food Systems in Santander” is the result of a collective effort aimed at guiding concrete and transformative actions aligned with the local needs and unique opportunities of the department. This document represents the voice of a region committed to change, reflecting the diverse perspectives and determination of its inhabitants to build fairer, more regenerative, and more productive food systems for all.

The development of this Roadmap began with a comprehensive assessment of the department’s food systems, identifying specific strengths, challenges, and opportunities in Santander. It explores key indicators and the context regarding the state of biological and cultural diversity, territorial transformation, agricultural production, agri-food markets, food security and nutrition, food loss and waste (FLW) throughout the entire food systems chain, as well as education, science, and technology.
