This report contributes to the work of the Truth Commission on environment and peace, from a perspective of clarifying the environmental truth in the armed conflict in the country, with the ultimate goal of promoting mechanisms of participation and democracy for coexistence and non-repetition.
Conflict-environment relations are varied and complex (Cárdenas & Rodríguez, 2004; Dejusticia, 2017; Angelika Rettberg et al., 2018; UNEP, 2009). They are not limited to specific military actions, such as blowing up oil pipelines, transportation or electrical infrastructure, actions that have irreversible effects on ecosystems and the communities living in them; nor to the development of illicit coca or poppy crops, and the fumigations that seek to eradicate them (Cárdenas & Rodríguez, 2004).
