Plan de Crecimiento Verde del Oriente Antioqueño

The Green Growth and Climate Compatible Development Plan for Eastern Antioquia is the first plan that unites the dimensions of climate change, development and green growth at the regional level in Colombia. Eastern Antioquia is an economically dynamic region that produces more than 30% of the country’s energy, has a strong industrial development, and is the food supply for the Colombian Caribbean. It is also characterized by a great diversity of climates and rich biodiversity, but it is also very vulnerable to climate change and has high levels of poverty. In this context, the Plan led by CORNARE in partnership with WWF Colombia, Fundación Natura and the financial support of the Climate and Development Alliance (CDKN), proposes strategic actions to promote green growth and resilient development and low emissions in the region creating new opportunities and welfare for its population, its productive sectors and industries. This planning exercise will be a strategic model to inform national authorities and other regions on how to create a pathway for future climate compatible green growth at the regional level, which is particularly relevant in the context of Colombia’s OECD application process and the construction of Colombia’s national green growth policy.
