Sustainability and climate change Knowledge management for climate change

Help us share this project

The Climate and Development Alliance (CDKN) has been supporting the national government since 2012 in its climate change strategy. CDKN I promoted various sectoral and territorial projects, as summarized in this link, until 2016. In its new stage, CDKN II, is supporting the management of knowledge on climate change, emphasizing closing the gaps between the generation of scientific information and national and territorial decision-making.

The knowledge management program is being implemented through several actions. At the national level, municipalities and departments are being supported to incorporate climate change and risk management into their development plans, through a practical and illustrative tool that promotes resilient and low-carbon territorial development.

In Cartagena, Plan 4C is being promoted: Competitive and Climate Compatible Cartagena. Through an evaluation of the Plan’s implementation level, we seek to reposition the 4C Plan and prioritize strategic actions with the new administration and the main actors of the Climate Change Commission. Also, it is expected to position Cartagena as a climate compatible city at a local and global level, supporting initiatives such as the implementation of the communications and branding plan of Plan 4C and Cartagena’s participation in sustainable city networks.

In Carepa, the first municipality in Urabá Antioqueño to develop a climate change plan articulated with the Climate and Peace Plan 2040: Urabá Antioqueño, Nutibara and Urrao, is contributing to the implementation of the Comprehensive Climate Change Plan (PICC). Through an evaluation of the actions carried out so far and the development of a monitoring tool, it is sought that various public and private actors articulate efforts around the PICC, to make Carepa a climate compatible municipality. Also, a financial sustainability strategy program for climate change projects is being carried out to support municipal and regional projects framed in the PICC.
